Fall front door planters
It’s hard to deny that fall is here (sigh) which mean no more lazy days on the beach and snow AND shovelling is around the corner (double sigh). But with the change in season, we do get to pretty up our front door with fall planters.
Our front door is underneath a porch which means the planters can’t have anything in them that requires sun and water. Our front door is a deep rich red since I’m big on popping a front door with color. (click here to read What Does Your Front Door Say)
With a red front door, the “traditional” orange fall color won’t compliment the red. Also, it’s fun to do something different from the expected and traditional. First went in brownish looking reeds at the back, with sticks of white “buds” on the front and sides. For color, dainty red leaves at the front add interest and co-ordinates with the door. BUT my real favorite addition to the planter is the “bling”. I added a couple of sticks of tiny white Christmas lights for sparkle at night.
With the exception of the lights, all the sticks were purchased from a local dollar store.
DESIGNER TIP: It’s fun to change our décor for each season, but remember, once the season is over, we need to take it down in a timely manner and change it up for the next season.
