Family Room Makeover – Week 4
I chose our Family Room because it’s obvious from the picture below (lol).
It was a very busy week at our house and we got alot done. If you want to check where we’re at, you can look at week 1 here, week 2 here and week 3 here. Now that you’re up to date, let’s take a look at this week’s progress.
Do you remember our ugly fireplace and the ugly “doo-dad”?
We were able to remove the doo-dad, fill the wholes, and sand.
Next job was to paint the dated brass insert. Click here to read the full post on the fireplace transformation.
Here’s how it looks with one coat of Zinsser on the matel and one or two coats of black high heat paint on the brass screen. What a difference paint makes.
Here’s the before again.
And the after!
Since we had the zinsser out, we also did the far accent wall in the dining area that you can see from the family room.
We’ve done all the big surface painting. I’m not sure if I’m keeping that picture on the back wall there. I’m thinking I will switch it out.
Now what is left is to sew pillows, paint side tables and sew or find curtains.
Check Out My Other Weeks:
I’m Debi Collinson. Designer. Stager. Real Estate Investor. In 2006, at the request of a realtor, I staged my very first home. Staging houses was just starting to become popular. I was very nervous staging my first house, but the sellers liked their newly redesigned home so much that they turned down an offer for full asking price. I went back to design school and have never looked back. Since 2006, I have been staging & styling spaces to make them look like they belong in a magazine page, and buying “fixer uppers” to fix up & either sell for a healthy profit or to rent them out. I’m currently living in my 8th “fixer upper.” Sign up to receive my e-mails of how to make your home stunning, how to sell your house for top dollar AND how to become financially independent one fixer upper at a time!
