What’s the No. 1 question I get asked when I walk through someone’s home to stage it?
Give up? The No. 1 question I get asked when I do a staging consult is …………
“What Color Should I Paint My Walls !!!!”
The popular staging color currently is gray. But wait ! Before you say you hate gray, there are a lot of different shades of gray (no pun intended) and there is bound to be one that you not only like, more importantly, it will compliment your existing furniture & accessories to show off your house when you’re selling your home.
I tend to lean towards the warm grays but there are cool grays that look really cool (lol). They actually can make a room quite dramatic and appealing. The best way to choose color is to get the color chips from a store and better, a small can of paint to try on the walls. Paint looks different on different walls depending on the time of day that the light is shining or not, and also what direction the wall faces i.e. north, south, east or west.
My Top 5 Staging Color Choices:
Silver Fox by Benjamin Moore is a warm gray. It leans towards the darker side and can make a room quite stunning. Just add color to your home through home décor like wall art, pillows, linens etc.
Abalone may be more suitable if you find Silver Fox is a little too dark.. It is “one up” the shade card and a lighter version of Silver Fox. It is in the warm family of grays and will show off your house beautifully.
Dramatic Stone Harbour is another popular choice for staging your home. It sets an nice clean palette to add pops of color throughout each room. Stone Harbour is a cool gray.
Gray Timber Wolf is a bold saturated color that brings a space to life. It is in the cool gray family.
Rever Pewter is a popular color choice. It leans towards the “beige” family so its very suitable if you have furniture & accessories in the beige tones. It is a dramatic color which will give your home some warmth. The grays are more popular right now for staging so I don’t recommend “beige” unless your furniture and décor are so “beige” that this is the best option.
